I understand that they are going through a difficult time... but this is a BAD bill. You cannot tell me that racial profiling will not be used a criteria for enforcement of this bill. The Gov was asked by a reporter "What does an illegal immigrant look like?" and the Gov said "I don't know"... ... Point made.

But if anything good has come out of this bill, it is that a spotlight has been put on the issue of illegal immigration, and hopefully that will be the next bill be go through congress. We need immigration reform, otherwise how can you really blame Arizona for taking such drastic measures. Listen to a congresswoman from Minnesota accuse members of congress of being "Anti-American." This woman needs to be voted out of office!

So let me get this right... if you do not agree with the way the government is running, then you are "Anti-American?" With that view, I guess 90% of America is "Anit-American," seeing as how 90% of this country believes that this country is on the wrong track.

Here is where I stand. This country is a melting pot of diverse races, religions, and opinions. There are conservatives, liberals, and everyone in between. I believe that diversity is what makes this great country so great, and anyone who is against this melting pot, anyone who wants to restrict the beautiful diversity that this country has is themselves, "Anti-America." Oh, and by the way, here is what Palin has to say on the issue:

She can back-track all she wants but to say that there are "pro-America" places, is to say that there are "anti-America" places. My Review

"W." The extended trailer:

On a scale of 1 to 10, I would give this movie a seven. This movie covered Bush's controversial early life, his tumultuous relationship with his father, and the early stages of the war on terror. I think that Oliver Stone did good by spending a lot of time on Bush's early life because it really humanized him. And when Stone went into depth in the relationship of W. with his father, you actually felt sorry for him.

Although it was nice to see Cheney, Rice, Rove, Powell, and others also depicted in this movie it brought about questions of how things really went down. A lot of it was hard to swallow. Cheney and Rove were depicted as these oil hungry, manipulating monsters. Rice was an ass kissing, really good for nothing sidekick, while Powell was the disliked voice of reason that was strong armed into selling the war with is name and reputation. In Stone's view, Cheney wanted this war solely because he wanted to control the oil in the middle east. They sold the war using the threat of WMDs, and clever language. Well, maybe that's not such a stretch. But what is a stretch is that Bush was naive enough to be manipulated. Another stretch is that from the get-go, Powell was against the war. I have a hard time believing that Powell would allow his good name to be tarnished by strong-armed tactics. To see all these people together deciding whether or not to go to war, based on oil made me sick to my stomach. I always knew it was about oil, but to see it on screen and be reminded that people I cared about and over 4,000 other troops lost their lives because of this nonsense infuriates me. All those thoughts going around and then the realization that McCain supported this. He said we would be greeted as liberators, and that we could just "muddle" through Afghanistan. If that is not the same kind of dismissive and complacent attitude that the Bush administration had. To this day McCain when asked if he knew then what he knows now, McCain will not still supports the war. Even knowing that there were no WMDs. Maybe that's even worse than Bush. Because at least the Bush administration had WMDs as an excuse.

McCain defending the war, even with the realization that there are no WMDs:

In relation to politics today I think this movie humanizes Bush, but hurts McCain. Because it shows the lead up to the war being full of lies and manipulation. Then when you think about the fact that McCain supported, and still supports the war with no exit strategy, it brings into question McCain's true motivations. After all, he did have a Freudian slip at a townhall meeting and say that we were at war for oil.

McCain saying that if we have energy independence we will never have to go to war with the middle east again:

All in all the movie would have been much better if the ending wasn't such a terrible drop off. For me watching that movie made me even more determined to help get Obama elected. We need someone in the White House who will think through decisions carefully, rather than make rash and unfounded decisions.

Taking this too seriously?

If you didn't get a chance to watch the Alfred E. proximity to Alaska as foreign policy experience...

Wait a minute, wait a minute! What did she just say? Maybe it would help if you read the transcript of that last exchange.

Couric: Have you ever been involved in any negotiations, for example, with the Russians?

Palin: We have trade missions back and forth, we do. It's very important when you consider even national-security issues with Russia. As Putin rears his head and comes into the air space of the United States of America, where do they go? It's Alaska. It's just right over the border. It is from Alaska that we send those out to make sure that an eye is being kept on this very powerful nation, Russia, because they are right next to, they are right next to our state.

Still can't really understand what she's trying to say? I think she's pretty much saying that she has foreign policy experience because she sends Guardsmen to watch Russian planes as they fly near or over Alaska. She also sighted trade missions as part of her experience with Russia, but she has never had a trade mission with them. She must have been speaking about a previous Governor of Alaska.

Many people have reduced her odd answers to legitimate questions as gibberish (from the liberals) and over coaching (Karl Rove). But it is obvious that she clearly does not understand the questions. The clearest of that is in Charles Gibson's interview, where he had to explain the Bush doctrine to her. Now, I know that most people do not know what the Bush doctrine is, but she is not running to be "most people." She is running to be the Vice President. One heartbeat away from the Presidency. It's not unreasonable to suggest, or even assume that there will be a time when she will have to step in for McCain. Then what? All this goes to show John McCain's lack of judgment. He is quick to act, well before he thinks. In his own book John McCain says,

“I don’t torture myself over decisions. I make them as quickly as I can, quicker than the other fellow, if I can. Often, my haste is a mistake, but I live with the consequences without complaint.”

Maybe HE can live with the consequences of his bad VP pick, but why should the rest of country? How can we trust John McCain to think before he acts, when it comes to decisions on the national level. He's a Maverick all right, one we can't trust!

Now, even more recently there was this...

Why is McCain sitting there not letting her answer the question? She is her own woman with her own mind, and right now she just re-stated the position she supports which is Obama's position. He is acting like her father, not like someone that he truly believes is ready to step into the Presidency on day one. Why? Because he DOES NOT think she is ready to step in on day one. This VP pick was purely political and not at all about what is best for the Country. So much for "Country First."

Oh, one more video just for fun. In case you didn't know, Sarah Palin was a beauty queen. Which explains some of her answers to interview questions.

Bailout Takes A Political Twist!

Okay, I know what you're probably thinking... why should we have to pay for this bailout, this isn't our mess. Okay, first of all, yes it is. It is just as much Main Street's mess as it is Wall Street. I didn't see people protesting in the street when they were "Trading Spaces" on houses they got with a shady mortgage... knowin' good and well that when that interest rate goes up they would no longer be able to afford. Okay, so maybe you weren't the one who got that shady mortgage, and maybe you always pay your bills on time. That doesn't mean that this crisis won't affect you. If your neighbor's house gets foreclosed, the value of yours goes down. Okay, so maybe you don't care about that either. How about this... because this bailout didn't pass, banks have put a freeze on loans. That means that people can't get a loan to buy a house. If you're selling yours, good luck on finding a buyer that can pay with cash. Wanna go college? Hope you have a plan that doesn't involve student loans, because those are frozen too. Credit cards? Yeah, you can expect the interest rates to go up. Okay, okay... so you're one of those people who believe we should hit the bottom and everyone should just "live within their means." Trust me, it will still affect you. Many small businesses use loans to do their payroll. People will be laid off. And what about those business that thrive on people's ability to get loans, such as car dealerships? We all know American dealerships are struggling as it is. You can bet that many dealerships will be closing. Unemployment will go up even further. And then you're in a recession. So what's the big deal with a recession? See illustration...

Now you may be wondering, "Why on Earth did congress not pass this bill?" Well, frankly said, it's because of you. You see, even though this situation has been described by the incumbent Chairman of the Board of Governors of the United States Federal Reserve, Ben S. Bernanke, as "the most severe economic situation our nation's been in since World War II," it obviously wasn't strong enough language. For some reason it was not apparent to the American people that this would affect them... the most! At first all everyone heard from the media was the initial sticker shock of 700 billion TAXPAYER dollars to "bail out Wall Street". That caused an outrage and everyone started calling their congressmen, threatening their jobs if they voted for this. So, the incumbent Republicans whose jobs are already on a limb, decided to cover their own ass rather than do what was best for the nation. So much for "Country First." Here are some questions I've seen brought up:

Q: Why didn't the dems just pass the bill themselves?

A: And let the Republicans turn the public against them when they were only doing what they thought was best for the nation? Not likely to happen. Then Dems want this to be a BI-PARTISAN bill so that everyone shares equal credit and takes equal blame. Like the Republicans, Democrats put their jobs before the Country too.

Q: Are there other ways that Congress can fix this problem without this bailout?

A: I'm sure there are but no one has come up with a better way yet. And in the meantime, congress is on recess until Thursday. And seeing as how we have already lost 1.2 TRILLION dollars in the stock market today alone, you can bet your house (if you have one left) that in these next few days of vacation congress is taking off, businesses will close, and many, many, jobs will be lost.

The Bailout

My first blog on this site so bear with me people...

Here we go with this 700 billion dollar bailout mess. If you don't know anything about it, get your head out of the sand and educate yourself. Here's a link so you can update yourself. What's a candidate to do? McCain tries to stand up and look like a leader, but the question is... will it backfire? At first when democrats, especially Reid, came out and pretty much said that they did not need McCain's help, it seemed as if his move was a misstep. How could he look like a leader if senators were asking him to stay away? It wasn't helping that Obama said that he was going to friday's debate regardless of what McCain's public statements may be. But wait... tonight Bush addressed the nation and called for McCain and Obama to return to Washington. Hmmm... now it seems that Obama is in a bind. Go to Washington and appear to follow the "urging" of McCain? Or stay on the Campaign trail and appear to neglect his duties and a Senator and ignore the request of the sitting President? And what of McCain? If Obama goes tomorrow, surely he can return to Mississippi for the debate on Friday. Does McCain go, and go back on his own pledge to stay in Washington until this bill is passed? Or does McCain stay in Washington and appear unable to mulit-task as Obama can? Oh the anticipation... whatever happens I'm sure both candidates will have a very good reason (excuse) for their actions, as well as questions (criticisms) of their opponents actions.
